The iconic SAWA building forms a new generation of buildings that are made entirely of wood.
Building in wood is the most sustainable way of building. Wood does not emit CO2 but stores it. It is readily recyclable, provides a healthy and pleasant indoor climate. And above all, wood is quite simply beautiful. SAWA accommodates 109 homes: a mix of owner-occupier and mid-market rental properties. A haven for true urbanites. Not to mention those hard-working Rotterdammers who are the heart and soul of the city. The building’s design reflects on our desire to not only offer a living space, but to create a sense of community. The superfluous communal spaces are what makes SAWA so unique. We want our building to become the pride of the entire neighbourhood and through its stature give back something special to the city. SAWA has been completed and the residents have moved in.
